As a Systems & IoT Architect (Energy Platforms), you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and further expanding the Neargrid ecosystem: from physical systems on site to cloud platforms, portals, and SCADA functionality.
You combine deep system insight with sufficient programming skills tounderstand integrations, make adjustments, and modify them yourself where necessary. You work closely with external software partners, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Contact with the practice (construction site and client) is a conscious part of the role: not as a traditional support function, but to ensure that architectural choices are correctly aligned with reality.
System & platform architecture (core focus)
· Designing and monitoring the overall system architecture of the Neargrid ecosystem
· Integrating hardware, IoT, software platforms, and external services into a single coherent solution
· Bringing together different portals into a single, uniform customer solution
· Technical translation between business, product, and implementation
IoT, monitoring, and SCADA
· Developing and expanding the existing monitoring portal into a fully-fledged SCADA system
· Defining data flows, interfaces, and remote readout functionalities
· Determine which data is relevant for customers, support, and product development
Software & integrations
· Technical follow-up and substantive management of external software partners
· Understanding, assessing, and, where necessary, modifying code or configurations yourself
· Programming where necessary to test, validate, or accelerate integrations
Product development & validation
· Validating new and existing systems within the Neargrid ecosystem
· Performing and coordinating tests (hardware, software, and system level)
· Improving existing designs based on data and practical experience
Practice & customer feedback
· Supporting customers with complex technical problems
· Analyzing issues on site to define structural system improvements
· Translating feedback from the field into better architecture and design choices
Technology & innovation
· Monitoring and evaluating new technologies (IoT, data, energy, software)
· Determine how and when these can be integrated into existing or new systems
· Mid-level engineer with 3–5 years of relevant experience (more is certainly welcome)
· Strong systems thinker with an interest in energy, IoT, and software platforms
· Technical background (energy, electrical engineering, automation, electromechanics, or similar)
· Programming experience (e.g., PLC, Python, scripting, integrations, APIs) — not as a primary role, but as a skill
· Able to communicate effectively with external development partners on a substantive level
· Hands-on, analytical, and pragmatic
· Willing to travel internationally, mainly within Europe
Good knowledge of Dutch and English; another European language is a plus.
· A key role in the further expansion of Neargrid as an integrated energy and technology platform
· Significant impact on architecture, product strategies, and customer experience
· Combination of systems thinking, technology, and practice
· A high degree of autonomy and responsibility for content
· Competitive remuneration based on experience

Want to build energy solutions that truly bring hardware, software, and data together?
Then we'd love to meet you.
Near Grid Solutions is a leading scale-up specializing in the development of innovative battery systems and other solutions that accelerate the energy transition in the construction sector. With our advanced technologies, we strive to provide our customers with a sustainable and efficient electricity supply on the construction site. We work with partners and distributors in various countries and support our customers right down to the construction site. Reliable and well-organized support is crucial in this regard. Neargrid is active in the Benelux, Germany, France, and the Middle East.
In addition to hardware, we are increasingly building a software-driven energy platform: planning, monitoring, data analysis, and remote management are an integral part of the Neargrid ecosystem.
Our solutions are already being used on construction sites in several countries. To scale further, we want to bring our hardware, IoT, and software components together into one consistent solution for the customer.
