Stirnimann AG – Urnäsch, Switzerland - Fully electric tower crane operation in the Swiss Alps

For a construction project in Urnäsch, Switzerland, Stirnimann AG deployed a Neargrid Boost 80 to provide emission-free power to a Potain MDT 219 tower crane. Thanks to the battery solution, the crane was able to operate reliably, even in a challenging mountain environment where grid capacity and logistics are often limiting factors. The project demonstrates how battery storage enables heavy-duty crane applications without diesel generators, resulting in less noise, lower emissions, and maximum operational flexibility. Important: Depending on the application and usage profile, a single Neargrid battery can power up to three tower cranes via a standard 32A connection, thanks to intelligent peak shaving and energy storage.
