We are proud to share that Neargrid has been named the proud winner of a European Product Design Award 2025 for its Compact Battery solution in the industrial/energy category . An international jury awarded the Compact for its thoughtful design, technical quality, and clear added value on real construction sites.

This award is not about aesthetics. It recognizes products that make a difference and have an impact in practice. For Neargrid, this confirms what contractors and equipment services experience every day: reliable, emission-free power without downtime.

Plug-and-play installation without complex configuration

Designed for the realities of the construction site

The Neargrid Compact plays a central role in this recognition. This next-generation battery-based energy system provides quiet, emission-free, and reliable power for construction sites and is a fully-fledged alternative to diesel generators, without compromising on performance.

Designed with peace of mind on the construction site in mind, the Compact exudes reliability in its design. The monolithic structure with calm, continuous surfaces creates a cohesive and robust whole. No visual noise, no unnecessary complexity, just a design that radiates confidence and fits perfectly into a professional construction environment.

This carefully considered design language is no coincidence. The visual identity of the Neargrid Compact forms the basis for all future product developments within Neargrid. It is the foundation of a consistent design strategy in which functionality, safety, and reliability are central.

In addition to the design, the jury also appreciated the underlying principles:

  • Plug-and-play installation without complex configuration
  • Stable voltage and high power quality, even with weak grid connections
  • Fully integrated electrical safety system, designed for job site safety
  • Quiet and emission-free operation, essential in inner-city environments
  • Remote monitoring and automatic notifications to prevent problems before they have an impact

This translates directly into what matters on the construction site: continuity, safety, and peace of mind.

Thoughtful solution for a more sustainable future, without compromising performance.

Design that prevents stagnation

Unlike generic batteries or energy containers, Neargrid systems are designed around the typical load profiles of tower cranes and construction site infrastructure.

By forming a stable microgrid on the construction site, the crane and other site applications remain operational in the event of grid failures, peak consumption, or limited connection capacity. If necessary, autonomous operation and controlled shutdown are possible, in consultation with the site manager.

That concept has now been proven beyond doubt, with more than 1.5 million hours of uninterrupted operation on construction sites in the Benelux and beyond.

Independent confirmation of a construction-oriented vision

“On a construction site, good design means reliability. If the crane stops working, the design has failed. This award confirms our focus on operational reliability, safety, and simplicity.”

The European Product Design Award thus underscores Neargrid's position as a benchmark in emission-free construction site energy.
